The FMS FMS Zero P-51 Mustang brings a slice of aviation history to your local flying field in a package that's ready to fly right out of the box. Modeled after the legendary North American P-51 Mustang, one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of World War II, this radio-controlled airplane captures the sleek lines, distinctive nose profile, and classic paint schemes that made the original such a formidable warbird. FMS has built a strong reputation among RC enthusiasts for producing scale replicas that balance authentic looks with beginner-to-intermediate friendly flight characteristics, and this Mustang model continues that tradition with a durable EPO foam airframe that can handle the inevitable hard landings and minor mishaps that come with learning aerobatic maneuvers. Powered by a brushless motor system paired with a lithium polymer battery, this P-51 Mustang delivers the kind of scale speed and punchy performance that warbird fans crave, allowing pilots to execute smooth loops, rolls, and low passes that mimic the real aircraft's dynamic flight envelope. The model typically comes equipped with pre-installed control surfaces, retractable or fixed landing gear depending on the version, and a straightforward assembly process that lets hobbyists get from box to runway in a short amount of time. Flaps and other scale features add to the realism, while the balance of wing loading and power gives intermediate pilots enough control authority to practice more advanced maneuvers without the aircraft feeling unwieldy or overly twitchy in the air. Whether you're a warbird collector looking to add another historically significant airframe to your fleet or a hobbyist stepping up from trainer aircraft into scale fighter models, the FMS P-51 Mustang offers an accessible entry point into that segment of the RC airplane hobby. Its combination of recognizable military heritage, solid build quality, and manageable flight performance makes it a popular choice at local flying clubs and RC airshows alike. Compatible with standard radio systems and requiring only basic tools for maintenance and repair, this Mustang model represents the kind of well-rounded warbird replica that keeps both nostalgic pilots and newer enthusiasts coming back to the flight line weekend after weekend.
Customer reviews
Bought this after flying trainers for a year and couldn't be happier. The Mustang tracks straight, rolls nicely, and looks fantastic doing flybys. Assembly took about an hour.
Flies wonderfully but I snapped the fixed landing gear on a slightly rough grass strip landing. Otherwise, very happy with the performance and scale details.
After my trainer, this was the natural next step. The flight characteristics are stable yet has enough power for some aerobatics. Highly recommend for low-intermediate pilots.
Everything was pre-installed well, just needed to add my own receiver, battery and transmitter setup. Flies true out of the box with minimal trimming needed.
