The Holy Stone HS175D is a beginner-friendly toy drone built for pilots who want a fun, hassle-free flying experience without the steep learning curve of more advanced quadcopters. Designed with a compact and lightweight frame, this drone is easy to handle for kids, teens, and adults alike who are just stepping into the world of recreational flying. It typically features bright, eye-catching colors and a durable plastic build that can withstand the occasional bump or rough landing, making it an ideal choice for new users who are still mastering their piloting skills. The inclusion of propeller guards further protects both the drone and its surroundings, which is a big plus for indoor flying sessions or tight outdoor spaces. Functionality-wise, the HS175D is equipped with beginner-oriented flight assist features such as altitude hold, one-key takeoff and landing, and headless mode, all of which simplify the control experience significantly. Altitude hold allows the drone to maintain a steady height in the air, freeing up the pilot to focus on directional movement rather than constantly adjusting throttle. Headless mode is particularly helpful for beginners since it eliminates the need to track the drone's orientation, allowing for more intuitive left-right and forward-backward controls regardless of which way the drone is facing. These features combined make the HS175D a forgiving and approachable option for those unfamiliar with the nuances of drone piloting, helping to build confidence before moving on to more complex models. In terms of overall flying experience, the HS175D offers a stable and responsive flight pattern, supported by a reliable 2.4GHz remote control connection that reduces signal interference and enhances range. Battery life is tailored for short, enjoyable flight sessions, and the drone typically comes with an easy-to-swap battery system, allowing users to extend their playtime with spare batteries. As a toy drone firmly rooted in the recreational and beginner segment of the Drones & RC category, the Holy Stone HS175D stands out for its blend of durability, simplicity, and enjoyable flight dynamics, making it a solid entry point for anyone looking to explore the hobby without a significant investment or complicated setup process.
Customer reviews
Bought this for my 12-year-old and he loves it. The headless mode makes it super easy to control, and the altitude hold feature means it doesn't drop like a rock when he lets go of the controls. Camera quality is decent for the price.
This drone is a blast to fly indoors and outdoors on calm days. My only complaint is the battery only lasts about 10 minutes, so I'm glad it came with two batteries. The folding design makes it really easy to carry in my bag.
Works fine in the backyard but gets pushed around easily by any wind. The app connection dropped a couple times mid-flight which was frustrating. Still, for the price it's a good way to learn the basics before upgrading to something better.
I was skeptical about a budget drone but this has been great. The 3D flips are fun to show off and the one-key takeoff/landing makes it so simple to use. Perfect for someone just getting into the hobby.
Camera isn't going to win any awards but for casual flying and learning drone piloting skills, this thing is great. Folds up nice and compact for travel. Would recommend to anyone starting out.
