The Traxxas Aton Plus stands as a premium ready-to-fly quadcopter built for pilots who want dependable aerial photography and video without wading through a maze of aftermarket parts and setup headaches. Straight out of the box, this drone arrives fully assembled with a controller, a high-capacity LiPo battery, and a charger, so newcomers and seasoned flyers alike can be airborne within minutes. Its rugged airframe, borrowed from Traxxas's decades of experience in radio-controlled vehicles, is designed to shrug off the bumps and hard landings that inevitably come with learning to fly, while its brushless motors deliver smooth, quiet power and extended flight times compared to many consumer-grade competitors. At the heart of the Aton Plus experience is its integrated camera system, mounted on a stabilized gimbal that keeps footage steady even during brisk maneuvers or gusty conditions. The camera captures crisp video and stills, transmitting a live first-person view feed directly to a paired smartphone or tablet through the Traxxas app, letting pilots frame shots in real time rather than guessing at angles after landing. GPS-assisted flight modes add another layer of confidence, enabling features like altitude hold, position hold, and return-to-home, which automatically brings the drone back to its takeoff point if signal is lost or the battery runs low. These smart safeguards make the Aton Plus particularly appealing to hobbyists who want cinematic results without needing years of piloting experience to avoid costly crashes. Beyond the core flight and camera capabilities, the Aton Plus is engineered with practical touches that reflect real-world usage, including a folding-arm design for easier transport, quick-release propellers for fast turnaround between flights, and a durable frame that supports simple field repairs rather than trips to a repair shop. Traxxas backs the drone with responsive customer support and a network of dealers who stock replacement parts, meaning the investment continues to pay off well after the initial purchase. Whether used for scouting property, capturing family events from above, or simply enjoying the thrill of aerial flight, the Traxxas Aton Plus delivers a blend of accessible controls, reliable hardware, and genuine camera performance that positions it as a standout choice in the camera drone segment.
Customer reviews
Mounted my Hero 11 on this and the footage stability is fantastic thanks to the dampened cage. Flies steady even in light wind.
Build quality is excellent and it's clearly built to last, but it's noticeably bigger than my old camera drone. Worth it for the durability though.
Parts are easy to find and the self-righting feature saved me from a bad crash. Just wish it came with a camera included at this price point.
If you want plug-and-play aerial photography, look elsewhere. This is more of a sturdy platform for your own action camera setup.
